The World's Rarest Cat Breeds You've Never Heard Of
While Persians and Siamese are household names, breeds like the Sokoke, Kurilian Bobtail, and Turkish Van are far less common. The Sokoke, originating from Kenya, has a distinctive tabby pattern and is one of the rarest natural cat breeds. The Kurilian Bobtail from Russia has a naturally short, pom-pom tail and is an excellent hunter. The Turkish Van is known for its love of swimming and its distinctive color pattern with color only on the head and tail. Other rare breeds include the Peterbald, a hairless Russian breed, and the LaPerm, known for its curly coat. The Egyptian Mau is one of the few naturally spotted domestic cats and is believed to be descended from ancient African wild cats.
